During a interview with Brando Music Review recording artist Vybz Kartel reveal how he almost gave up on his music career but Bounty Killa encourage him to continue.
When ask about his single “Life Story” released in 2008 with reference lines Vybz Kartel use in the song stating “Yo, big man ting still. Buju Banton, first time mi go studio and hear da yute deh. Mi check seh a deso dj ting buck, me’d a put dung artist man cah mi nah lie. All a next time too. Yo all some bwoy Waterford, yuh see da px#sy deh

Vybz Kartel expound on the lyrics use in the song stating he was always destine for greatness and at two point he was going put down music to make money otherwise.
“The second part when me did ago done with music was when me deh a England 2002 me uncle send fhi me uzeemi, dem time deh you no need visa fhi go England is just a letter bring you. Uzeemi, yea and me uncle is a juggler uzeemi so dem time deh me deh a England so me a just gwan stay wid him and make some money and yuh done know do the do” He stated.
Vybz Kartel then speak about an encounter he had at the time with Bounty Killa in England; While on tour he told Vybz Kartel to go back to Jamaica and continue his music career before Vybz Kartel got his break through in music.
“So a when me deh a England now Bounty Killa cause me did meet Bounty Killer before me fly out, so Bounty Killa forward pon a tour and thing, and anyway cho me say me a link him up and me link him up round a think a BBC studio at the time”, Vybz Kartel recounted and went on to state what Bounty Killa said to him. “Killa see me and a say yow weh yah do yah suh mon a dats why me can’t see you”. Vybz Kartel replied, “Me deh yah enuh killy me a gwan juggle wid me uncle”. According to Vybz Kartel Bounty then told him to go back to Jamaica because his glory is waiting for him and he is a “bad artist”.
After Bounty Killer’s words of encouragement Vybz Kartel decided to head back to Jamaica in 2002 revealing that same year he got the popular hit song “New Millennium”. The song was a collaboration with Wayne Marshall who was a more popular artist at the time.
