Selector Chin from Soundchat Radio is among those who believe Prime Minister Andrew Holness should issue an apology to Jamaican entertainers following his recent comments about Beenie Man and other artistes waving the Jamaican flag while criticising the country. The remarks have sparked conversations within the entertainment fraternity, with some individuals questioning whether the Prime Minister’s statements were disrespectful to the contribution of local artistes to Jamaica’s international reputation.
The controversy arose after Holness suggested that some entertainers use the Jamaican flag to attract audiences to their shows while simultaneously criticising the nation. However, individuals such as Selector Chin believe Jamaican artistes have played a significant role in promoting the country’s culture and identity worldwide through their music. The growing discussion has led to calls for the Prime Minister to acknowledge the impact of his remarks and offer an apology to the entertainers who continue to represent Brand Jamaica on the global stage.
